American-style BBQ Half-Moon Pork Chops

Grilled half-moon pork chops coated in a homemade barbecue sauce, for a dish full of smoky and sweet flavors.

Servings: 4

Preparation time: 1h (excluding marinating time)

Ingredients

 

  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. To prepare the BBQ sauce, combine all ingredients (except chops) in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until sauce thickens.
  2. Allow the sauce to cool, then brush a third of it over the pork chops (reserving the rest). Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, ideally overnight.
  3. Preheat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan over high heat.
  4. Grill pork chops for about 3-5 minutes on each side, brushing with additional barbecue sauce as they cook, until cooked through and the surface is caramelized.
  5. Serve hot, with remaining barbecue sauce on the side.
