Tender pork chops cooked with apple slices and deglazed with cider for a lightly sweet and flavorful sauce.
Serves: 4
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Star ingredient: pork chop
Ingredients
4 pork chops
2 apples, cored and sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 cup apple cider
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
A few sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add pork chops and brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chops from pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add the butter and sauté the minced onion until translucent. Add the apple slices and cook for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
Return the pork chops to the pan with the apples and onion. Pour apple cider over all and add fresh thyme if desired.
Cover and simmer over low heat for about 10-12 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has reduced slightly.
