A classic comfort dish that everyone loves!

Ingredients

 

  • 450g ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 bell bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney or black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (more or less, to taste)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until evenly cooked.
  3. Stir in bell bell pepper, chili powder, cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, kidney beans and broth. Bring to the boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer, half-covered, for about 1 hour, stirring regularly.
  6. Serve the chili hot, garnished with grated cheese, sour cream or fresh coriander, if desired.
