Our delicious sausages served in a classic hot dog, topped with caramelized onions and a homemade relish. Perfect for a summer meal with friends.

Ingredients
4 sausages of your choice
4 brioche hot dog buns
2 onions, thinly sliced
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Condiments of your choice
For the homemade relish:
1 English cucumber, finely chopped
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. turmeric
Salt to taste
Instructions
For the homemade relish: In a saucepan, combine chopped cucumber, red onion, cider vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds, turmeric and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Cool and set aside.
For the caramelized onions: Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are well caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Deglaze pan with balsamic vinegar and set aside.
For hot dogs: Preheat grill or frying pan to medium-high heat.
Grill sausages until cooked through and browned on all sides. Lightly toast hot dog buns on grill or in skillet.
Assemble hot dogs by placing a sausage in each bun, then top with caramelized onions, homemade relish and condiments of your choice.
