Serves: 4

Preparation time: 45 minutes

Star ingredient: Ground beef

Ingredients

Burgers:

  • 450g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. garam masala
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 4 burger buns

Mint sauce:

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp. fresh mint, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Fries:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, cut into sticks
  • 1 tbsp. curry powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, garam masala, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated. Divide beef mixture into 4 equal parts and shape into patties. Set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, toss sweet potato fries with olive oil, curry powder and salt. Spread fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  3. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, yogurt and chopped mint. Season with salt to taste and mix well. Set aside in the fridge.
  4. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
  5. Spread a generous dollop of sauce inside each burger bun. Place a cooked beef patty and a few fresh mint leaves on top. Serve with crispy sweet potato fries and remaining sauce.
