Miso and Ginger Hanger Steak

Hanger steaks marinated in an umami-rich miso, ginger and garlic sauce, then grilled for a deep, complex flavor.

Servings : 4

Preparation time: 35 minutes (plus marinating time)

Star ingredient: hanger steaks 

Ingredients

 

  • 4 hanger steak
  • 1/4 cup white or red miso paste
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. mirin
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all marinade ingredients until smooth.
  2. Place the meat in a dish or resealable freezer bag. Pour marinade over tabs, making sure to coat well. Cover or seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.
  3. Preheat pan or grill to medium-high.
  4. Remove meat from marinade and drain excess liquid. Cook for about 4-6 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
  5. Allow steaks to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serve.
