A traditional quiche lorraine with crispy bacon, eggs, cream and cheese for a delicious meal or brunch.

Servings: 6-8

Preparation time: 1 hour

Star ingredient: Bacon 

Ingredients

 

  • 1 ready-to-use shortcrust or puff pastry dough
  • 8 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups cooking cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Roll out dough in a pie pan and prick bottom with a fork. Pre-bake pastry for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside.
  3. In a frying pan, cook bacon pieces until crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a large bowl, beat eggs with cream, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
  5. Place cooked bacon and grated Gruyère cheese on pre-cooked pie crust.
  6. Pour egg and cream mixture over bacon and cheese.
  7. Bake for approx. 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  8. Cool slightly, then serve.
